Do You Want My Black T-Shirt? Donate is My New Mantra

The clothes that do not make me feel good about myself…well, I’ll offer them to someone who might have a different outlook! My loss could be someone’s gain!

I love going through my closet and dresser drawers. It usually means that new clothes are on their way into my wardrobe. Ones that have beautiful new fabrics, no pills and have nice lines and shape.

How often do you pass by a shirt in your closet to reach for another? Are you still passing it by to look for that one that makes you feel better than it does? Why are you still keeping it? It won't change the way it makes you feel, so TOSS IT!

I have taken to this way of thinking for about a year now, and I have been left with fewer clothes but a better understanding of what I like. I realize that I have a personal style. I have a better insight of what works for me and what is lacking in my wardrobe.

I recently took on this decluttering project in my closet where, not only did I remove the clothes that I didn't like, but I also organized everything by colour. Boy, was there a lot of black! I apparently like black tops! I clearly do not need another black top, black sweater, black T-shirt, black top with sparkles...I have them all. I could probably open my own store!

So, when I go shopping next (most likely at Joe Fresh this coming week!) I will know to look for colour, happy colours, new patterns, floral is very trendy, which I love, and I am pinning a lot of those images right now.

I recently had a doctor’s appointment and he told me at a baby check-up that I was always well put together. That was a nice compliment. Here's the secret...messy hair bun is in vogue (so the littlest amount of effort for that hair style), jewelry (I happen to have a lot Stella & Dot which always look expensive), and Joe Fresh tops, with a pair of skinny jeans…all of this is just as easy to put on, as a pair of yoga pants and a sweatshirt! Seriously.

I feel better when I make good choices, for myself. It adds to my happiness and self esteem. And at the end of the day, that is what matters.

So, who's wants to plan a Starbucks/Joe Fresh shopping date with me this week? You in?
